<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-499" src="http://experienceparisienne.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/12-john-derian-paperweights-paris.jpg" alt="12-john-derian-paperweights-paris" width="458" height="304" />Derian is famous for his découpage plates and paperweights. (Découpage is art made by decorating a surface with cutouts and then coating it with layers of varnish or lacquer.) The technique was hugely popular in France in the 17th and 18th centuries; Marie Antoinette herself was a big fan.</p>

<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-505" src="http://experienceparisienne.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/12-vegetables.jpg" alt="12-vegetables" width="458" height="304" />Plus, French vegetables&#8230;</p>
